DW2000 - The Sarah Jane Mysteries 2004

With the success of the first two Sarah Jane Mysteries series and a new generation’s new found love for Sarah Jane Smith, the BBC commissioned a third and fourth series of the show. With the growing popularity of the show the BBC planned to move it to Saturday Nights but Sunday Nights were surprisingly successful for the show.

For the third series a new character was created called Mike Maloney, played by Jo Stone-Fewings, his character was created as a love interest for Ashley. The series would be the last series to be showrun by Jed Mercurio, although he was leaving he did say he wasn’t done with the Doctor Who universe and would try to write for the main show and any spinoffs which would be created in the future.

Because Russell T Davies was leaving Doctor Who he decided to become showrunner of the Sarah Jane Mysteries and he would take over in 2005 after the end of his time on Doctor Who.

From Out The Rain

The story would see an old film in a local museum bring ghostly performers: the Night Travellers, into the real world. As people begin to mysteriously lose their breath, Sarah and her friends work to capture the travellers, which they successfully do using a camera, but not before lives are lost. Though the film is destroyed, a surviving reel hints the threat may return.

The Old House

By Paul Abbott

March 19th

The story would see Sarah Jane and the team investigate a house in the North of England and it turns out that this house was the childhood home of Tom, this would be a story which would have no alien threat but would be a very personal story for Tom as we see he was abused by his father and so was his mother and brother to the point his dad beat his brother to death and after he went to prison Tom’s mother became an alcoholic and died of alcohol poisoning, Tom had to manage growing up on his own but with hardships as he was bullied at school and had nobody to turn to which is why he is so thankful he found Sarah Jane and Ashley because they were his first two real friends that he ever had and he’s not too sure where he’d be without the them and he’s glad he found happiness in the end.

The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith

This story would be the same as the Sarah Jane Adventures story, however it’s just Tom and Ashley with the Doctor, played by Michael French, with that Tom is the one with the artron energy that Clyde has and he defeats the Trickster.

The Prisoner

This story is the same as the Sarah Jane Adventures episode Prisoner of The Judoon, but both parts are combined together and a few bits are changed and it’s made a bit darker.

Normal Days

By Russell T Davies and Jed Mercurio

This story sees Mike spying on the trio trying to find out why they are so secretive all the time and he eventually finds out the reason why, however all four of them come together to defeat a Zygon and Ashley agrees to be more honest with Mike and the two make up.
